Research-Scholarship in F-Nantes

My masterthesis deals with the relation between urban water and the city and how urban water can activite the social und culturel life in the city. After a general research I apply the knowledge and ideas on the urbanism of Nantes, city at the estuary of the Loire in western France. The French-German Office (OFAJ) choose my theme for the scholarship supporting thesis, wich are developing the culturel and economical relation between Germany and France. This allowed me to stay a month in Nantes to go very deep into the historical, social, culturel, econmical, fluvial background of the city. Here are some of the results of the observational research.

Drögenbostel won competiton "Art for the village - villages of Art"

The mayor of the village Drögenbostel asked me to create with a team of citizens a competition portfolio. This portfolio contains some informations about the village and a photo-gallery wich shows their relation to art.

31 municipalities in Lower Saxony to participate in the competition "Art for the village - villages of Art" („Kunst fürs Dorf – Dörfer für Kunst“) advertised, the German Foundation Deutsche Stiftung Kulturlandschaft in the coming year in Lower Saxony. The foundation supports each project with 20,000 €.

On the 17th of january, a part of the organisation team drove to Hannovre to select the artist for the project. We are very satified to have the opportunity working together with the artst Stefan Dornbusch. For details click http://www.stefandornbusch.com/ The artist, who has to be choosen by the winnig villages, create and generate together with the inhabitants of Drögenbostel an art-project.

Internship Édouard Francois, Paris

In the winter 2010 started myhalf-year internship in the well-known and also controverse discussed office Édouard Francois in Paris.

I worked mostly on residential projects that gave me a better perspective on the design of large scale domestic constructions. This experience allowed me to compare the German and French methods and hence enriched my knowledge in this domain. The project I worked the most for was a residential tower for the city of Nantes.

My collegues are very skilled, it was a pleasure working with them. My project-director answered patiently all my questions regarding architecture, AutoCAD and french legislation.
Being part of this agency, which has a very artistic, poetic and sensual approach in their creations, has broaded my mind towards architecture and design.

After a semestre with very intensive work, my project-partner Franziska M. and I had some fun with taking pictures of our three models: 1:200 city scale, 1:100 building model and 1:25 room-model. The models are made of lasered polystyrol panels and a lot of patience.
